Local Rotary clubs give back to those in need

Local children in need benefited from the annual Lewis River and Battle Ground Rotary Children’s Christmas Party on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Around 70 children ages 12 and under gathered with about 30 parents and guardians at the Battle Ground Community Center to receive gifts and warm winter welcomes from the two local Rotary clubs.

Each year, the North County Community Food Bank creates a list of eligible children served by the food bank. Those children and their family members go to the event to eat food, play games and get a gift from santa.

Members from the Rotary Club purchase a gift for all the children according to their wish list and wrap the gifts with their name. This year’s emcee was Ralph Akin, the assistant district governor of Rotary District 5100, and music was provided by the Battle Ground High School jazz choir.
