Little League State Softball Championship held at Abrams Park this weekend

The Little League State Softball Championship is coming to Abrams Park in Ridgefield June 29 to July 5 (no games July 4). The opening ceremony begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 29 with games to follow at noon. 

According to Washington Little League District 6 administrator Thomas Dent, there are seven teams of 13- to 14-year-old girls from all over the state that are gearing up to play ball next weekend after the first pitch is thrown by Cathy Doriot, a police sergeant in Ridgefield who played little league softball in the city and was instrumental in bringing the softball program to Ridgefield schools. 

There will be three games a day on the first Saturday and Sunday then one each day at 6 p.m. going forward.
