Editor,
It was disappointing to see in the Dec. 4, 2024, Reflector that the effort to get a YMCA to Battle Ground failed. When I travel across this great nation and visit family and friends, I enjoy going to the “Y” where they are members. These Ys are always great, safe places to get a good workout of your choice, including pools and a diversity of exercise classes.
The Reflector article mentioned a lack of communication and an unwillingness of the city mayor and council to pursue this project. I realize this may have required some funding from the city. I personally don’t know of a much better investment in the community than to improve physical, mental and spiritual health by providing such a positive institution in our community.
In conclusion, I believe this community missed a great opportunity for current and future generations to improve.
