After 13 years of keeping chickens I’m still gobsmacked when I see feathers everywhere and the birds invariably choose the coldest months to get going.
I keep in mind they’ll be fine. Our birds are heritage breeds that can tough it out as long as their roosts are thick enough to get their feathers over their toes at night and the coop is free of drafts.
Yet it’s still odd to see molting in November.
