Letter to the editor: How am I supposed to honor Joe Kent’s words?

Posted

Honor, as a verb, means to regard with great respect; to fulfill an obligation, to keep an agreement.

Throughout Joe Kent’s campaign he has stated that he is skeptical Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election. He states in the voters pamphlet that he wants an investigation of the 2020 general election, election integrity laws and to impeach Biden and Kamala Harris immediately.  Yet, when asked in the lightning round of the League of Women Voters sponsored debate on Oct. 15 if he supports President Biden as the lawfully elected president of the United States Joe Kent responded yes. Really?  How am I supposed to honor Joe Kent’s words?

Joe Kent stated to KGW8 that Jan. 6 was an “intelligence operation” and the defendants are “political prisoners.” Yet, in the lightning round of the debate, when asked to characterize the individuals who tried to stop the transfer of power at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and who have to date been arrested and convicted, his response was felons.  Really? How am I supposed to honor Joe Kent’s words?

In accordance with the League of Women Voters rules in debate both Kent’s and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez’s campaigns agreed not to use edited video from the debate for campaign purposes. But Joe Kent breached his agreement and used heavily edited footage on his Joe Kent for WA-3 Twitter account. Honor: To keep an agreement, to fulfill an obligation.  Where is your honor Joe?

In the voters pamphlet, Joe ends his statement saying “I would be honored to have your vote.” Since Joe Kent doesn’t comprehend the word honor, I will not honor him with my vote.
