Letter to the editor: Hockinson school bond an investment in community

Posted

Editor,

As a lifelong resident of Clark County and a former student of Hockinson schools, I understand firsthand the value our community places on education. It is a privilege to be both a current Realtor and a proud product of the Hockinson School District. Growing up in Hockinson, I watched my grandfather serve as a janitor in the schools, and today, my uncle is a dedicated teacher within the district.

Our schools have always been a vital part of our community, shaping the students who will become tomorrow’s leaders, innovators and neighbors.

As a Realtor, I see the immense demand for homes in Hockinson and Brush Prairie. When marketing local properties, we use “Hockinson Schools” as the first line in our ad copy. The area's reputation for excellent schools, strong community ties and a safe, family-friendly environment has made it a sought-after destination for families looking to invest in their future. The district’s commitment to providing top-tier education is one of the key reasons families choose to live here. That’s why I believe it’s essential we support the upcoming bond measure aimed at investing in our schools' safety, infrastructure and long-term sustainability.

The proposed bond measure is an important step in ensuring that our schools remain a place where students can thrive. It will address critical safety upgrades, improve facilities and provide necessary resources to keep up with the growing demand for educational services. Hockinson has a proven track record of smart, effective investments in education that not only benefit the students but also enhance the overall value of our homes and properties. The success of our school district directly impacts the desirability of our community, which is why this bond measure is so vital.

Investing in our schools is an investment in our future. It ensures that our children will continue to receive the quality education they deserve in an environment that is safe, modern and conducive to learning and that our dedicated teachers get the resources they need to be successful and feel supported. As a proud member of this community and a mother to a school-aged child, I urge my fellow residents to support this bond measure. By doing so, we are helping to secure a bright future for the next generation of Hockinson students — and for the continued prosperity of our community.
