Letter to the editor: Congress and Biden need to step up

Posted

I’m hoping that The Reflector will post this comment. There is one reason and one reason only why we are paying the astronomical prices that we are for gas and other fuels. It’s because of what Joe Biden and others did on day one after Joe was sworn into office. He killed American oil production. He shut down pipelines and laid off thousands of hard-working Americans who worked to put food on their table and to keep our fuel prices low. But he wants to blame Russia for the catastrophe? Sorry, but gas prices were already shooting through the roof before that even happened. The average price of a gallon of gas is now over $5 and in some places where it is more expensive, it’s already over $10 per gallon. Families, and especially seniors on fixed incomes, can’t function with this garbage. America will be on the brink of collapse if this continues. At one time, not long ago, we were energy independent, but all the Democrats can do is tell everyone to buy electric cars? In many West Coast and Southern states, they are telling people to stop using so much electricity, especially during this current heat wave because using more electricity overwhelms the system, and the grid won’t handle the load. So, how are we supposed to charge electric cars if the current grid can’t even handle a heat wave? American Petroleum Institute CEO Mike Sommers issued a statement: “While we appreciate the opportunity to open increased dialogue with the White House, the administration’s misguided policy agenda shifting away from domestic oil and natural gas has compounded inflationary pressures and added headwinds to companies’ daily efforts to meet growing energy needs while reducing emissions.” I’m glad he said it. We’re not stupid. We know what had caused this problem so this current president can play dumb all he wants, but we know that he has single-handedly led us into this disaster. Can anyone imagine what 2023 is going to look like? I don’t know about you, but I’m sick of all of the lies, blame shifting, and finger pointing from both parties. Congress and Joe need to step up and admit what they have done and fix it before it’s too late.

God Bless America.
