La Center to receive $30,000 art project grant

The City of La Center announced it received approval for a $30,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The NEA grant will support local art projects, including a mural for the Lewis River Telephone Company building, located at 210 E. Fourth St., La Center. The funds will also restore and reinstall sculptures in Sternwheeler Park, located at 100 E. Fourth St., La Center, a news release by the city stated.

The nonprofit La Center Arts Council will help facilitate the City of La Center’s art projects, the release stated.



“The NEA is proud to continue our nearly 60 years of supporting the efforts of organizations and artists that help to shape our country’s vibrant arts sector and communities of all types across our nation,” NEA Chair Maria Jackson stated in the news release. “It is inspiring to see the wide range of creative projects taking place, including the City of La Center’s visual art projects.”
