Robel Daniel Grove, of the La Center, Ridgefield and Vancouver communities, passed away on March 11, 2023, at the age of 22. Robel was born in Tigray, Ethiopia on Aug. 1, 2000, and came to the United States at the age of 8 when he joined the Grove family in the summer of 2009. He graduated from La Center High School in the class of 2019.
Robel’s kindness, empathy, bright smile, and fun spirit endeared him to many of us throughout the communities. He was committed to his people and made us all feel we were his people. His passions were friends, family, fast cars, food and wrestling, placing fourth at state. He worked the past few years learning multiple trades within the construction industry.
As part of a large, close-knit extended family of cousins, he was preceded in death by cousins Malia Grove (5 months), Clarissa Grove (9), and Cameron Kestner (21).
Robel is survived by his parents, Daniel and Arminda “Mindy” Grove, and his siblings Deonna (18), of Cherry Point, North Carolina, Angelia (17), and Michael (17), as well as Grandma and Grandpa Grove, Grandma Kestner, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and “his people.”
Robel is laid to rest at the Mountain View Cemetery at 38813 NE 119th Ave., Amboy, Washington, 98601.
