Kathryn Ann Huffman passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on August 7th, 1946, in Corvallis, Oregon, Kathryn was the oldest child of Earl and Carolyn Hoover.
Kathy was a dedicated elementary teacher of over 30 years, 25 of those years being at Yale Elementary School in Ariel, WA, working alongside her husband, John Huffman, who also taught there. She raised two daughters and was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a seasoned piano teacher who also served as the pianist at her local church in Ariel, WA, for many years. She loved gardening, traveling, camping, teas with friends, and any activity that included her beloved five grandchildren. Her dedicated service to her community and her family will be remembered and cherished by many. She will be greatly missed.
Kathy is survived by her loving spouse, John Huffman, and her two daughters, Stephanie Jernstrom and Chelsea Chavez.
A memorial service will be held on October 24th, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Community Church in Ariel, WA. A celebration of life will follow at Anderson Lodge - Hilltop House, also in Ariel, WA, with potluck-style food, so please bring a favorite side or dessert, if desired, and come with a favorite memory or story of our beloved Kathy. In lieu of flower arrangements, please consider bringing a live plant that can be planted in Kathy’s honor, as she loved gardening and flowers.
