Joan K. Boullion passed away Aug. 9 at the Woodland Care Center where she resided the last year and a half of her life. She was preceded in death by parents, Angie and Lyle Sumption; husband, Ron; son, Lyle (Lee), and sister, Jeanette Becker.
She was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota, in 1943. As a toddler, she was burned and spent a year in Shriners Hospital where she wasn't expected to live. This event was a good first indicator of how stubborn she could be at times.
She went to school in Aberdeen and graduated Central High in 1961. She and Ron married right out of high school and their first of five kids came in 1963. She enjoyed riding horses and roller skating. She planted, grew and canned the food from their garden and could make a meal out of anything. As she got older, Joan enjoyed playing pinochle with friends, reading and traveling. When the kids started leaving home, Joan decided to go to school for massage and reflexology. Many have said that she had a gift. She loved to help people heal and believed in the more natural approach. She very much enjoyed her weekly lunch date with her friends, Jeri and Diane.
She is survived by her daughters, Cathy Wilmot and Shelly Boullion; and sons, Ron and Steve Boullion, all of Vancouver; six grandkids; five great-grand-kids; and one great-great-grandkid. She will always be cherished and remembered for her sacrifices and love for her family and her animal companions. She is and will always be sorely missed.
There will be no service at this time.
