“Papa Don” returned home to his father in heaven after a loving family farewell.

Don Paul Judy is survived by his six sisters and younger brother: Diana Diederich, William Judy, Pat Williams, Susan Lambert, Jean Perkins, Christine Chase and Allison Schaerr. He is preceded in death by his parents Don and Dellah Judy and brother Steven Judy.

As a young adult, Don joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the USS Skywatcher, an advanced warning radar picket ship. He earned the rank of E4 and was a boatswain’s mate. He enjoyed his time in the service where he had some incredible experiences. He was discharged honorably in 1961, married his first wife and had two children.

Don was a builder by trade. The bigger the project, the better as far as he was concerned. Many schools, hospitals, power plants and refineries bear his signature. He was also a part time farmer and enjoyed helping his children, Mike and Pam, participate in many county fairs and livestock shows with their prize-winning hogs.

Don later moved to California where he then met his beloved wife, Dorothy Finley-Judy, who passed away in 2021. He was a member of the Local 360 Carpenter Union until his retirement at which time he moved to Yacolt, Washington, to the five-acre home he loved. There, he enjoyed spending countless hours entertaining or being entertained by his loving grandkids. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with such grandkids. He thrived on the chaos of large family gatherings. He was also loved by many because of his generous, loving nature.

He is remembered as a loving brother, father, husband and papa.

Don leaves behind seven children. They include Mike (Jamie) Judy, Pam (Rob) Hardman, Rusty (Janice) Finley, Joe (Christine) Finley, Tim (Barbara) Finley, Gina (Dave) Jacobus and Ben (Christy) Finley, along with countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held in Don’s honor at 3 p.m. on Oct. 8, 2022, at Lewisville Park, 26411 NE Lewisville Highway, Battle Ground, Washington, 98604.

The family will display signage once in the park to give directions to the desired area.
