In loving memory of Dean Duaine Swanson: 1934-2021

Dean Duaine Swanson, a longtime La Center resident, passed away at the age of 87 on Nov. 19, 2021. Dean was husband to Delverna (Fencil) for 65 years, until her passing on June 30, 2018. 

He is survived by their children Cynthia (Mike) Morgan, of Amboy, Donald (Pam) Swanson, of La Center, Cheryl (Jim) Morris, of Olympia, Colleen (Jim) Morris, of La Center, Karri (Bill) Rohrer, of Ridgefield, Daniel Swanson (Goldman Miller), of Valdez, Alaska, and Danette (Rafael) Bejinez, of La Center; brother Robert Swanson, of Moore, Oklahoma; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Dean enjoyed time with his 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. 

Dean was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Oscar and Mabel Swanson, and moved to Fruit Valley in Clark County, Washington as a child. He graduated from Vancouver High School, worked at the Vancouver Paper Mill, Pacific NW Bell, was a timber faller in Clark County and in Alaska, and maintained radar equipment in Alaska. Dean also loved working on his farm in La Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, their stillborn son, his parents and his older brothers Vernon L. and Gerald O. Swanson. 

Dean will be dearly missed by family and friends. Laynes Funeral Home in Battle Ground, Washington is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of life will be held Dec. 4, 2021. Contact one of his children for more information.
