In loving memory of Allen Douglas Sevier: 1921-2021

Allen Douglas Sevier, formerly of Ridgefield, passed away on Nov. 15, 2021, in Spokane, Washington, six weeks short of his 100th birthday. Born in Portland, Oregon, on Dec. 28, 1921, Allen grew up in Wallowa County, Oregon, and Berkeley, California. He served in the United States Marine Corps in World War II, stationed chiefly in San Francisco.

Allen, often known by his nickname Gus, worked as a cattle rancher, a used car appraiser, and finally as a malt house manager for Great Western Malting in Vancouver, where he retired in 1984. He married the love of his life, Ellen Patricia Davies, on Nov. 11, 1948. Known as Pat to almost everyone, she passed away in 2008.

He is survived by son Jeff and daughter-in-law Nancy of Simi Valley, California, and daughter Leslie Sherman of Cusick, Washington, as well as grandchildren Matt Sherman of Spokane, Washington, Mellany Risdal of Akron, Iowa, Ben Sevier of New York City, New York, Chris Sevier of Montgomery, New York, and six great-grandchildren. No funeral services are planned.
