The Clark County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) and the Clark County Historical Museum honored the oldest sheriff’s office in Washington with a 175th-anniversary celebration that was open to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office was first established in 1849, making it the oldest law enforcement organization in the state. The event, filled with historical displays highlighting the history of CCSO, brought together a few hundred members of the community and even politicians, deputies and other law enforcement agency command staff.

Displays included the history of the badge and patch worn by the sheriff’s office, infamous cases, including D.B. Cooper, and more. The event also honored the five deputies and three K9 dogs that have been killed in the line of duty throughout the agency’s history.
