House along Parkway Avenue in Battle Ground attracts police presence, again

During the night of Wednesday, Feb. 26, a wanted individual known to be associated with the house at the 900 block of North Parkway Avenue was at large, prompting a large police presence in the northeast quadrant of Battle Ground.

Residents reported the large police presence first on social media and stated seeing officers throughout the city as they set up a perimeter west to state Route 503 and north to the Parkway Avenue and Onsdorff Boulevard intersection as well as rolling perimeters directly east from the residence.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Battle Ground Police Department and the Portland Police Bureau’s aviation unit, a Cessna 182 fixed wing aircraft, were able to locate the subject in a nearby shrub. The individual was taken into custody without incident but suffered injuries from falling on his head from the shrubbery, an officer at the scene said.

As of press time, no further information was provided from law enforcement agencies regarding the incident.

The incident, however, marks the third large response to the house since Jan. 28 when a Battle Ground man was arrested for illegally possessing firearms. The January SWAT response as part of a search warrant was followed by an accidental gunshot wound on Feb. 10.
