The Hockinson High School Theatre Company will perform its fall dramatic play, “The Giver,” through Nov. 9 at Hockinson High School, 16819 NE 159th St., Brush Prairie.
“The Giver,” based on the book by Lois Lowry, tells the story of a dystopian world where differences are outlawed and a committee of elders makes decisions for community members. The story follows one boy’s journey of seeing beyond his community and the value of choice, diversity and freedom, a press release by Hockinson School District stated.
Nearly 50 students are involved in the Hockinson High School’s production of “The Giver.” Theater teacher Stephanie Evans double-casted roles to provide students multiple opportunities, including acting, stagecraft and other theater production experience, the press release stated.
Performances will take place 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7; 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8; and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9.
