Construction will soon begin on Clark County’s first Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints temple, with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 23.
The temple will be built at the northwest corner of Southeast 20th Street and Southeast Bybee Road in Vancouver. Elder Mark Bragg, a General Authority Seventy, will preside over the event, the church announced in a news release.
Plans call for a multistory, 43,000-square-foot building. It will be the sixth LDS temple in Washington and the first in the Vancouver area. Church President Russell M. Nelson announced the temple during the church’s October 2023 general conference.
