Gee Creek rest areas on I-5 to close for annual maintenance work

Posted

The Washington State Department of Transportation will close the northbound and southbound Gee Creek rest areas on Interstate 5 near Battle Ground and the state Route 502 interchange at exit 11 for yearly maintenance work from 6 a.m. on Oct. 18 through 5 p.m. on Oct. 22.

During the closure, WSDOT maintenance crews will deep clean each location, repair damaged picnic areas, update landscaping and conduct routine safety checks on the electrical and plumbing systems, according to a news release.

Both rest areas are some of the busiest in the state and see more than 1 million visitors between the two facilities.

Travelers can check the latest road conditions and get real-time roadway and weather information through the WSDOT mobile app, or by following the Southwest Region Twitter page.
