Food bank encourages gardeners to grow and donate produce

As the spring growing season begins, the North County Community Food Bank (NCCFB) is encouraging local gardeners to plant extra produce to donate later in the season to families and seniors in need.

“Your homegrown produce can go a long way in nourishing families and seniors in our community,” NCCFB stated in a social media announcement. “Fresh fruits and vegetables help us provide more than just food — they offer dignity, nutrition and care.”

In addition to homegrown produce, gardeners can also support NCCFB’s efforts by saving seed packets for donation drives or volunteering.
