Former President and Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will host a telephone town hall for congressional candidate Joe Kent Tuesday evening.
The call, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m., comes after the top two Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives visited the Third Congressional District last week to rally support for Kent. Trump has endorsed both of Kent’s bids for Congress, calling him a “Great American Hero” who “paid a very big price in fighting for our country” in a July 28 Truth Social post.
While Washington has not backed a Republican for president since Ronald Reagan in 1984, Trump noted in the post that he carried the Third District in both the 2016 and 2020 elections and that he looked forward to “easily winning a third time.”
As the election nears, Trump has repeatedly rallied to support down-ballot Republicans in deep blue states, hosting recent rallies at the site of the Coachella Music Festival in California and Madison Square Garden in New York.
As Kent garners the support of high-profile politicians, his opponent, freshman U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, has avoided appearing next to high-profile surrogates, instead focusing her attention on local issues while on the campaign trail.
The race between Gluesenkamp Perez and Kent is expected to be among the tightest congressional nations in the country, and its outcome will likely be one of a handful that decides control of the House of Representatives.
To join the town hall, call in at 833-305-1721.
