Cowlitz County will take over operations of the Cowlitz County Gun Range, located at 1000 Toutle Park Road, Castle Rock, beginning Jan. 1, 2026. The facility was previously managed by the volunteer organization Cowlitz Game and Anglers.
The transition will be jointly overseen by Cowlitz County Parks and Recreation and the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office to ensure safe and effective management, a Cowlitz County news release stated.
During the initial transition period, the gun range will operate on a reduced schedule while staff assess facility needs and update safety protocols. Additional operational details will be announced as they become available, the release stated.
