Congressional candidate Brent Hennrich to hold campaign kickoff in Vancouver

Democrat challenger for Washington’s Third Congressional District Brent Hennrich will kick off his congressional campaign this week at the AMC Classic Theatre in Vancouver.

Hennrich hopes to unseat Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, a fellow Democrat.

The congressional hopeful announced late last week that his campaign would hold a kickoff event Thursday evening, April 2. All are invited to the event. Attendees will be offered hors d’oeuvres and a no host bar.

According to the news release from the Hennrich campaign, the event is intended to celebrate recent milestones and invite more involvement from the community. The event is especially relevant for the candidate as Hennrich states he “helped oversee the final construction” of the “industry shaking” combination dining and movie-watching venue.

“I have already been across this district multiple times, shaking hands, meeting people,

and answering their questions and listening to their concerns,” Hennrich said. “Although this campaign has been active for the last year, I want to bring everyone who has helped out so far together to celebrate our collective hard work.”

The event will also feature speakers a chance to ask questions to Hennrich and meet the staff of his campaign.

This is Hennrich’s second campaign for Washington’s Third Congressional District seat, though he ended his campaign in 2022 to make way for Gluesenkamp Perez, who he now believes has voted too closely with the Trump administration on a number of issues.

He is currently third in fundraising for the campaign, but according to the latest campaign finance reports, he sits significantly behind state Sen. John Braun, R-Centralia.

Hennrich’s latest campaign finance report shows nearly $70,000 raised for his campaign while Braun sits at just under $840,000 raised.

Following the success of their first combined “Birthday Bash” event last summer, the trio of mobile businesses that organized the event — Mobile Mermaid Espresso, Two Brewnettes Espresso & Tap Trailer and Lewis County Axe Throwing — are now planning their second annual Birthday Bash event, according to an email from Mobile Mermaid owner Stephanie Rouse.

Officially titled Birthday Bash 2026, the event is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Chehalis Moose Lodge, located at 1400 Grand Ave., Centralia.

Free to attend, the event will once again feature the three mobile businesses, along with  Papa’s Smokehouse, which is also celebrating its first year in business. Other food trucks will also be at the Birthday Bash 2026 for a “food truck rodeo.”

Other mobile restaurant businesses participating include Tony’s Ynot Italian Ice, J&L Ears and Rootbeers and Liquid Sunshine, a fresh-squeezed lemonade vendor.

“There will be plenty of family friendly activities, food and drink trucks, a variety of vendors, music, and sprinklers (depending on the weather),” Rouse said in the email. “There will be numerous raffle items, as each vendor is donating a basket of goods, as well as a 50/50 raffle. The proceeds will go back to the Moose as a thank you, as they allow us to set up and use their land and facilities.”

Local artisans will also be selling work at the event, which will also feature family friendly music.
