Friday night cruise-ins: 4 to 8 p.m. every Friday through Sept. 15. Alderbrook Park welcomes all special interest cars, trucks and bikes at its cruise-in events. Participating vehicles need to pay $10 to enter and only cash is accepted. Tickets for adult spectators cost $8 per person, while tickets for kids ages 4 to 13 cost $5. Children 3 and under can enter for free.  Cash or card is accepted for spectator entrance. The events will host food trucks, an espresso cart, cafe snack shacks, a beer garden and other vendors. Daughters of the Pioneers meeting: Potluck at noon, meeting at 12:30 p.m. on June 1. The Daughters of the Pioneers of Washington Chapter No. 19 will host its officer installation. Member Pepper Toelle Kim will briefly discuss the “(Her)Story: Founders, Leaders, and Visionaries” exhibit about the 100-year anniversary of women’s suffrage in the United States. La Center spring cleanup: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 3. The City of La Center will host its spring cleanup and shred day at the La Center High School parking lot. People can bring bags no larger than 20 gallons for shredding. Ammunition, asbestos, biological waste, business waste, containers over five gallons in size, electric vehicle batteries, explosives, marine flares, medical sharps and smoke detectors will not be accepted. La Center High School is located at 725 NE Highland Road in La Center.

Trail course event: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 3. Join the Clark County Saddle Club for a trail course event featuring 48 elements like gates, logs, jumps, water, tires and bridges. The cost to participate is $25 for adults and $15 for kids. Non-members will pay an additional $5. The Clark County Saddle Club is located at 11407 NE 174th Circle in Battle Ground. Gymnastics spring classes: 10 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. on June 5, June 12 and June 19. Jump Start will provide gymnastics lessons, which focus on the bars, balance beam and trampoline. Kids between the ages of 2 and 6, and who are potty-trained, can learn balance, strength, coordination and flexibility, while building confidence and having fun. The first class is free and the drop-in rate for additional classes is $25. Classes are held at the  Battle Ground Community Center at 912 E. YMCA day camps: June 26 through Aug. 11. The Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Clark County Family YMCA to offer summer day camps at the Battle Ground Community Center at 912 E. Main St. The YMCA day camps, designed for two age groups spanning 4 to 12 years old, provide child-centered activities and opportunities for learning through discovery. Options include dance fitness camp, cooking camps and a variety of STEM camps focused on lego engineering, Star Wars coding with legos and stop motion animation. Summer playground program: June 17 through Aug. 17. The free eight-week program provided by the Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department is designed for children between the ages of 4 and 12 and brings summer activities to parks in the city each week. Each week will feature a different themed activity and provides children the opportunity to play games and create arts and crafts projects. Skyhawks sports camps: July 5 through Aug. 4. The Battle Ground Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Skyhawks to bring sports camps and classes to Battle Ground’s Kiwanis Park. Skyhawks provides a wide variety of programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, like teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction to sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. A variety of week-long camps in Battle Ground will be offered to two age groups spanning 4 to 12 years old. Kids will have the opportunity to learn about baseball, basketball, soccer, flag football, volleyball and a variety of field games like capture the flag, dodgeball and ultimate frisbee. Creative cardmaking: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12. Miss Teen competition: 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Program, which has been renamed to the Miss Teen La Center North County Scholarship Program, will hold its competition at La Center Middle School at 2001 NE Lockwood Creek Road. The program has expanded its competition to include Woodland, Battle Ground, Yacolt and Amboy.
