Lilac Days: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Sunday, May 14. The Hulda Klager Lilac Gardens will host Lilac Days in Woodland. The theme this year is “hats from the past” and collections will be on display in the new barn museum and in the historic house. The Klager house will also reopen this year. Guests can sign up at the gardens for tours of the house from 1 to 4 p.m. Photos and memorabilia of Hulda Klager and her family will be on display at the barn museum. There will be a quilt raffle fundraiser as well. The annual plant sale features lilacs and the gift shop will have lilac-themed items available. Admission to Lilac Days is $5 for adults. Children 12 and under can enter for free. The Lilac Gardens are located at 115 S. Pekin Road in Woodland.

Port of Woodland celebration: 2 p.m. on Friday, May 12. The Port of Woodland invites the community to celebrate its completion of the fiber backbone from Ariel to Cougar. The event will take place at the Yale Valley Community Library at 11700 Lewis River Road in Ariel.

Ridgefield High School Theatre production of “The Addams Family”: 7 p.m. on Friday, May 12 and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 13. Advance tickets can be purchased at wa-ridgefield-lite.intouchreceipting.com/rhstheatre or at the door on the night of the performance. Tickets cost $12 for adults, $10 for students and $8 with a valid ASB card. Based on the book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, “The Addams Family” is a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams.

Mother’s Day plant sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 14. The WSU Extension Clark County Master Gardener program, in collaboration with the Master Gardener Foundation of Clark County, will hold its annual fundraising plant sale for Mother’s Day weekend at 78th Street Heritage Farm at 1919 NE 78th St. in Vancouver. Cash, checks and Visa, Mastercard or Discover cards will be accepted. People are encouraged to bring their own cart or wagon for large purchases. ADA parking will be available.

Kindy Club Night: 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 18. La Center Elementary School will host a Kindy Club Night for its incoming students. Students and parents will work on activities that will prepare students for school. Kindergarten registration for the upcoming school year is open. Children must turn 5 years old on or before Aug. 31 to enter kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year. Registration is available online at lacenterschools.org or at the elementary office at 700 E. Fourth St.  between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Parents and guardians must bring their child’s immunization record and a copy of their legal birth certificate. People are asked to register their children as early as possible.

Hazel Dell Parade of Bands: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 20. The 57th annual Hazel Dell Parade of Bands will include 25 local bands, parade floats, classic cars and more. Several roads will be closed for the parade. Starting at 8 a.m., Hazel Dell Avenue will be closed from 78th to 99th streets. At 10 a.m., 63rd Street from Hazel Dell Avenue to Highway 99 will be closed, along with Highway 99 from 63rd Street to 79th Street. La Center Spring Cleanup: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 3. The City of La Center will be hosting their spring cleanup and shred day at the La Center High School parking lot. They ask that no larger than a 20 gallon trash can be brought for shredding. Ammunition, asbestos, biological waste, business waste, containers over 5 gallon size, electric vehicle batteries, explosives, marine flares, medical sharps and smoke detectors will not be allowed. La Center High School is located at 725 NE Highland Road in La Center.

Vacation Bible School: 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, June 26 to Thursday, June 29. Join Bethel Lutheran Church for “Stellar VBS: Shine Jesus’ Light.” It will be held at the church, which is located at 12919 NE 159th St. in Brush Prairie. The Vacation Bible School will feature teamwork-building games, songs, Bible learning activities and more. It is open to pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. Miss Teen competition: 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 15. The Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Program, which has been renamed to the Miss Teen La Center North County Scholarship Program, will hold its competition at La Center Middle School at 2001 NE Lockwood Creek Road. The program has expanded its competition to include Woodland, Battle Ground, Yacolt and Amboy.
