Surplus sale: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 23. The Ridgefield School District will hold a surplus sale featuring bookshelves, desks, file cabinets, shelving, Chromebooks, desktop computers, projectors and other miscellaneous classroom supplies. It will be held at the Ridgefield Administrative and Civic Center, otherwise known as the RACC, at 510 Pioneer St., Ridgefield. Concert: 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 23. Head over to the Fat Moose Bar and Grill in Woodland for a free concert featuring the Nash Brothers and the Rob Leines Band. The Nash Brothers will open the show from 6 to 8 p.m. and will be followed by a performance by the Rob Leines Band from 8 to 10 p.m. Fat Moose is located at 1382 Lewis River Road in Woodland. 

Amateur radio field day: Noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. Join the Clark County Amateur Radio Club as they demonstrate how amateur, or ham, radios operate. The event is at SEH America, 3900 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver. For more information, call 360-989-9268 or go to w7aia.org. 

Used book sale: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. Join the Friends of the La Center Community Library, who will sponsor a pop-up book sale that will feature fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books. Hardbacks and large paperbacks are $1 and pocketbooks are 50 cents. The proceeds will benefit library programs. The sale will be held at the La Center Community Library, 1411 NE Lockwood Creek Road. Birds of Battle Ground Lake: 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. Join the staff of Battle Ground State Park as Interpretive Volunteer Simone Williams presents the different birds that can be found at the park. Barbecue Competition: June 25 and 26. Join the Ridgefield community at ilani for a barbecue competition hosted by famous barbecue chefs Lynnae Oxley and Rick Browne. Yacolt Rendezvous Days: July 1 to June 4. Join the Yacolt community as they celebrate their annual Rendezvous Days. The event will feature a 5K or 10K run or walk during the Bigfoot Fun Run on July 2 and July 3, a kickball tournament with a family or competitive division at 6 p.m. on July 1, and a block party on July 2. There will also be a backroads event, which will feature pizza on July 1 and July 2. It will end with a parade at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 4. Battle Ground Lake Owls: 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. Join the staff at Battle Ground Lake Park as Columbia Springs volunteer and CIG Interpretive Guide Ellen M. Wilson discusses the adaptations of local owls and four species you can find in Southwest Washington. The event is located at 18002 NE 249th St., Battle Ground. Native plant ID walk: 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9. Join the staff at Battle Ground Lake Park as a Master Gardener and NatureScaping volunteer takes participants on a one-mile walk around the lake to observe a variety of plant species that contribute to the park’s ecosystem. Capacity is limited to 20 people. Participants are encouraged to sign up in advance by calling 360-687-4621. 

Our Days Steamboat Festival: Saturday, July 9 for citywide garage sales; 7:30 p.m. on July 29 for parade followed by a movie in the park. Other events on July 30 include a 5K, vendors, car show, beer garden, bingo, beautiful baby and kid zone. Join the La Center community for its Our Days Steamboat Festival. The parade will start at La Center Middle School, 2001 NE Lockwood Creek Road, and end at Fifth and Cedar streets. The events on July 30 will be located at Holley Park, 1000 E. Fourth St., La Center. Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Pageant: 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. La Center will hold its annual Miss Teen La Center Scholarship Pageant for girls ages 13 to 18.
