An East Clark County man faces a murder charge after he allegedly fatally shot a neighbor for revving his vehicle’s engine along their road, court records show.
On June 16, Presley Mileck, 50, made an appearance in Clark County Superior Court facing one count of first-degree murder for allegedly shooting his neighbor, 39-year-old Timothy Thomas.
According to a probable cause affidavit for Mileck’s arrest, at about 2:30 p.m. on June 15 dispatchers received a 911 call in the 25500 block of Northeast Alder Falls Road located east of Battle Ground from Mileck’s wife, who reported their neighbor was driving up and down the street while revving his engine. Mileck had left the home in his family vehicle to confront the neighbor.
While on the call, Mileck’s wife said she heard Mileck yell at the neighbor, then heard several gunshots, the affidavit stated. She said Mileck returned “distraught and inconsolable with a gun in his hand,” adding he made suicidal statements.
Mileck wouldn’t calm down, according to the affidavit, and his wife was instructed to walk down the driveway to meet responding deputies. While those deputies waited for backup, a man approached them, saying his wife had called him and one of his sons who lived at the house Mileck responded to was missing.
Deputies responded to the neighbor’s house and found Thomas, “who apparently had been shot multiple times and was deceased,” the affidavit stated.
Mileck had called his wife several times, with a sheriff’s deputy answering the call the last time, according to the affidavit. Mileck said he wanted to be cooperative and surrender peacefully. He said the gun he used was in his bedroom and he was sitting in the living room.
After his arrest while at the sheriff’s office annex, “(Mileck) was very subdued and barely audible when he spoke,” the affidavit stated.
Mileck requested an attorney before he was interviewed.
Mileck’s bail was set at $1 million. He is scheduled for another court appearance on June 24.
