Following a public interview, the Clark County Council appointed District Court Commissioner Leslie Lopez on Wednesday, Sept. 10, to fill the seat of retiring Judge Sonya Langsdorf.
Lopez has served as a court commissioner since November 2024 and previously worked in the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, including as Chief Civil Deputy. She earned her law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School, the county said.
The council will hold an additional interview session to fill a second open seat, currently held by retiring Judge Kelli Osler. Candidates Megan Peyton and Erin Priest will be considered, with public interview dates to be announced.
“An appointment to a judge position can represent the pinnacle of one’s career,” Council Chair Sue Marshall said in the press release. “I want to acknowledge the hard work and commitment to justice of each of these outstanding applicants.”
All six District Court judge seats are up for reelection in 2026.
