Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey has been named Washington’s Auditor of the Year by Secretary of State Steve Hobbs.

Hobbs presented the award to Kimsey during the 2025 Washington State Association of County Auditors Elections Conference earlier this month, a news release from Clark County stated.

During the ceremony, Hobbs praised Kimsey’s leadership during the 2024 election cycle and his response to multiple ballot drop box attacks, some of which resulted in burned ballots.

“This county auditor not only was providing on-the-ground response to a frightened community. They were also on the scene, retrieving burned and destroyed ballots directly from the targeted ballot drop boxes,” Hobbs stated during Kimsey’s ceremony.

Hobbs also commended Kimsey for efforts to improve fire suppression systems in ballot drop boxes. The technology has since been shared with other jurisdictions to help prepare for future incidents, the release stated.

“I’m honored by the recognition. However, it’s the efforts of the Elections Office staff that deserve the credit,” Kimsey said after receiving the award.

Clark County Elections Coordinator Luba Ross also received the Rising Star of the Year Award during the conference. Hobbs praised Ross for her commitment to election integrity and community trust, the release stated.

Secretary Hobbs concluded the conference by recognizing the collective efforts of county and state officials to ensure accessible, transparent and fair elections during a tightly contested cycle.
