The Clark College Orchestra will present its Spring Concert on Sunday, June 15, marking the final performance under longtime music director and conductor Dr. Donald Appert. Appert will retire at the end of June after 35 years of service at Clark College.
The concert begins at 3 p.m. at Skyview High School, 1300 NW 139th St., Vancouver. The program will feature soprano soloist Linda Appert performing three arias by Giacomo Puccini, alongside the orchestra’s rendition of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2, according to a Clark College press release.
Admission to the concern is free and open to the public. Following the performance, guests are invited to a reception honoring Dr. Appert’s lasting impact on the college and the regional music community.
Appert expanded the orchestra from 15 to over 80 musicians and grew its music library from 100 to more than 470 titles during his tenure. Among his accolades are multiple awards from The American Prize and the Clark County Arts Commission’s Lifetime Achievement in the Arts Award, the press release stated.
