Candidate filing period opens May 5 for local offices

The candidate filing period for the 2025 election, will open at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 5, and close at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9, and Clark County citizens are encouraged to run for open positions.

Positions open for election include 15 charter review commissioners, a superior court judge, city and town council seats, mayoral races, school board directors and various commissioner roles in public service, a news release by Clark County stated.

Candidates are encouraged to file online at VoteWA.gov during the filing period. Online filers must have a valid email address, be registered to vote in the jurisdiction they’re filing for and pay any applicable fees using a Visa or Mastercard.



In-person filing is also available at the Clark County Elections Office, 1408 Franklin St., Vancouver. Superior Court candidates may file in person at the Secretary of State’s Office in Olympia. Credit cards are not accepted for in-person payments, the news release stated.
