A Portland Police Bureau vehicle, bomb squad truck and a Clark County Sheriff’s Office vehicle block off Northeast 179th Street just east of the Fairgrounds exit on Interstate 5 after a Portland Police Bomb Squad member set off a small explosion in the intersection of Northeast 179th Street with the northbound off ramp and Northeast 10th Avenue in Ridgefield on Thursday, July 10. Deputies shut down the route and called for assistance from the Metro Explosive Disposal Unit, CCSO stated in an email with The Reflector. After exploding a PVC pipe, it was confirmed it was not an explosive and the pipe was disposed of and traffic opened back up just before 5 p.m.
