BGPS opens referrals for Aspire Highly Capable Program

Posted

Battle Ground Public Schools (BGPS) is accepting referrals for the Aspire Highly Capable Program, which supports students who demonstrate advanced academic abilities or potential. Student referrals will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 5.

The program is open to BGPS students in grades K-12. Those accepted into the Aspire Highly Capable Program will begin receiving supportive services during the 2026-27 school year, a news release by BGPS stated.

Anyone may refer a student, but written parental or guardian consent is required before the student can take the program’s Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT).

The CogAT assesses reasoning and problem-solving skills, rather than learned knowledge. It includes three verbal and three quantitative sections. Test results will be sent to families in March 2026, according to program materials.

Referral packets are available at any BGPS office or online at shorturl.at/wMSGV. Completed forms may be submitted via email to aspire@battlegroundps.org
