BG Farmers Market is back in a new location

The Battle Ground Farmers Market season is upon us with the first one kicking off from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 2.

This year’s farmers market — which will be held every Friday from June through the first Friday of October — will be located in the Battle Ground Plaza that features Wilco and other great locally-owned businesses.

The plan is for the market to eventually land where construction staging is currently taking place located on the south side of West Main Street.

“We’re kind of in flux until (the construction) is done. But it sounds like we’ll kind of be in front of the laundromat … and that is still the front end of the parking lot,” said Mike Stewart, manager of the farmers market.

Stewart is happy to announce a few new fruit and vegetable providers will be taking part in the farmers market as the vendor list is up to 15.

“We should have some good produce this year, especially because the weather is definitely cooperating better than last year for produce,” Stewart said.

Other vendors include woodworkers and a natural soap vendor, he said.

“Our goal is to be as farm and food centric as we can. We have a lot of interest from the craft community, but we’re really not trying to be a craft fair,” Stewart said.

Stewart encourages producers of crafts made from farm products to inquire about joining the market. Other vendors with farm and food products who are interested can contact Stewart by emailing mike@sweetbloom farm.com.
