Battle Ground Public Schools to offer free summer meals at three schools

Battle Ground Public Schools will serve free breakfast and lunch for those between the ages of 1 and 18 this summer at several locations.

The summer food services program is sponsored by the district and funded primarily through a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant, stated a news release from the district. It helps provide healthy meals during the summer when children are not in school.

The release stated children and teens do not need to attend a Battle Ground school to participate. They added that meals must be consumed onsite and there will be no curbside pickup.

The sites for the free meals include River Homelink, Daybreak Primary School and Glenwood Heights Primary School.

River HomeLink, at 610A SW Eaton Blvd. in Battle Ground, will serve breakfast from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday from July 10 to July 20. There will be no Friday breakfast service. Lunch at River HomeLink will be served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 26 through Aug. 18.

Daybreak Primary, at 1900 NW 20th Ave. in Battle Ground, will serve lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 26 through Aug. 18. No breakfast will be served at the school.

Glenwood Heights Primary, at 9716 NE 134th St. in Vancouver, will serve breakfast from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday from July 10 to July 20.

There will be no meal service available at any of the sites on Tuesday, July 4.

There is also a non-public meals location at Yacolt Primary School for those attending summer school at the location.
