Battle Ground Police arrest suspect in hit-and-run

The Battle Ground Police Department arrested a Woodland man suspected of a hit-and-run that seriously injured a woman in the 3300 block of West Main Street the morning of Saturday, Jan. 11.

After receiving tips from the public, police arrested Clarence “Butch” Holt II, 59, of Woodland, on charges of hit-and-run, injury, which is a class C felony, according to a news release released at 5:22 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. He was transported and booked into the Clark County Jail. Police found a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 truck, believed to be involved in the incident, at the Woodland residence.

The woman, a 45-year-old Black female, is still in critical condition at a local hospital, as of Thursday. She was struck sometime before 8 a.m. Jan. 11 while walking on the north side of West Main Street, heading westbound, near the entrance of the former VCA Animal Hospital office. Police believe she was walking on or near the roadway when she was struck. 



“We are grateful to the public for their help in sending in tips and sharing information about this case on social media,” Battle Ground Police Chief Dennis Flynn said in the news release. “Without their help and assistance we received from the Woodland Police Department, this case would not have been solved so quickly.  We hope this arrest brings a sense of justice to the victim and her family.”

According to the news release, police continue to investigate, and no further information will be released at this time.
