Battle Ground Police arrested Raymond Baca, 35, on Friday, Feb. 21, on a charge of first-degree robbery.
Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Walmart, located at 1201 SW 15th Ave., at approximately 1:35 p.m., a news release by the City of Battle Ground stated.
Store employees reported that a male suspect attempted to leave the store with a shopping cart containing an estimated $1,500 in unpaid merchandise. When confronted, the suspect allegedly brandished a knife and made threatening gestures before fleeing the scene with the stolen items.
Battle Ground officers arrived within minutes and located the suspect with the assistance of witnesses. Baca was found inside a vehicle at a nearby apartment complex, where he refused to exit. After negotiations, Baca exited the vehicle and was safely taken into custody, the news release stated.
