Battle Ground Community Library is giving patrons more than books to check out this summer.

The library recently highlighted new additions to its “Library of Things,” a collection of borrowable items ranging from kitchen equipment and musical instruments to tools, games and outdoor gear.

Patrons can check out items such as a stand mixer, Tibetan singing bowl, hammock, electric knife sharpener, bread maker, slackline kit, handheld GPS navigator and more.

The items can be found on the library website at  ow.ly/rpiQ50ZgJ3K.

The collection also includes creative and educational items, including a lyre harp, bongo drum set, steel tongue drum, Panda drum, PicassoTiles, Snap Circuits Classic, a Gears! building set, Trestle Tracks Deluxe and a speed cube.

For those interested in household projects or cooking, available items include a tortilla press, glass bottle cutter, I-cord knitting machine, thermal laminator, vacuum sealer, wok pan, slow cooker, socket set, tool kit, bolt cutters and air pump.

Several items are already in high demand, with waitlists for items such as the steel tongue drum, electric knife sharpener, lyre harp, Panda drum, Tibetan singing bowl and hammock. Other items were listed as available, including the stand mixer, mandolin, handheld GPS navigator, Bluetooth speaker, finger pulse oximeter and several tool and activity kits.

Library staff encouraged teens and adults participating in the Summer Reading program to check out items from the Library of Things as part of their summer activity challenges.
