Soroptimist International of Clark County is offering financial assistance to girls and women in the community who are looking to continue their education.

Two types of cash awards will be offered, according to a news release.

The “Live Your Dream” award is open to women who are the primary wage earners with dependents who want to attain additional education or additional skills and training.

Women who are looking to obtain a graduate or advanced degree are not eligible to apply for the award. The applicant who is selected could receive $1,000 to $3,000 in cash and may also advance to the Soroptimist Northwestern Regional level, where they can receive an additional $5,000.

The deadline to apply for the Live Your Dream award is Nov. 15.

The second type of cash award is called the Achieve Your Dream award, which is open to a girl or woman who demonstrates the need and motivation to continue her education. It’s available for all levels of education, including high school, college, graduate school, vocational and technical training.

The person who is selected can receive a cash award between $1,000 and $3,000.

The deadline to apply for the Achieve Your Dream award is Jan. 1.

Both award recipients are able to use the money to offset costs associated with attaining an education, stated the release. It can be utilized for tuition, books, carfare, child care or any other education-related expense.
