The Columbia County teen who authorities say planned a mass shooting at the Kelso mall is charged with eight crimes, including second-degree attempted murder and first-degree attempted assault.
According to court documents filed Thursday afternoon, a 14-year-old resident of Columbia County is being tried in Columbia County Circuit Court’s Juvenile Division. The teen’s name, gender and exact residence have not been disclosed.
The suspect faces four felonies and four misdemeanors: two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, second-degree disorderly conduct, and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
The FBI’s Portland field office reports the teen was planning a mass shooting at Three Rivers Crossing in Kelso, that would have included a bomb made of chlorine. The suspect was arrested on May 22.
The FBI told The Daily News Thursday there was no specific date for the attack, but the suspect had everything prepared to execute the plan at any time.
The FBI stated in their press release that the teen’s plans were posted online and included a map of the mall, the shooter’s route, and the use of a bomb made of chlorine which was intended to draw people out of the Regal movie theater to shoot.
Authorities were tipped off on May 19.
The suspect’s next hearing was set for Friday, after The Daily News deadline.
