Remains ID’ed as Hart family member

Remains found in May have been positively identified as one of six children of the Hart family from Woodland whose SUV went off a cliff in California in March.

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office announced Jan. 9 they had received word of a positive identification of partial remains as Hannah Hart. Hannah’s siblings Markis, Jeremiah and Abigail, along with their parents Jennifer and Sarah were found dead following the March 26 crash into California Highway 1; her sibling Ciera’s remains were found about a week later and were positively identified later in April.

Devonte Hart, the sixth child, has yet to be found, though in the announcement the sheriff’s office said he likely died in the accident as well.

During the investigation, law enforcement found reason to believe the crash was intentional. Looking at log data from the SUV showed it had stopped at a turnout on the side of the road before accelerating quickly off of the cliff. Toxicology reports showed that the driver, Jennifer, was above the legal alcohol limit and that the other family members had “a significant amount of the ingredient primarily in Benadryl” in their bodies at the time of the crash.
