Backyard Habitat Certification Program Launch

Join members of the community from 3 – 4 p.m. May 22 at 812 SE Morgan Road, Vancouver as they officially launch the Backyard Habitat Certification Program within Clark County. The home and yard of Fort Vancouver horticulture teacher Toree Heibert will be certified.

 

Do-it-yourself irrigation

Learn how to construct an inexpensive home sprinkler system from master gardener Jerry Winchell. The sprinkler system will save you time, water and labor. The class is being held for free by the Washington State University Extension Master Gardener program at 6 p.m. on May 28. The event will take place in Longview at the Cowlitz County Fairgrounds, 1900 7th Ave., Longview. 

 

Waterwise and pollinator-friendly garden herb growing class

Learn about homegrown herbs from Nicole Forbes 6 – 7:30 p.m. on June 3. The event takes place in Vancouver’s Pacific Park, NE 18th St. and NE 172nd Ave, Vancouver. It is free to attend and put on by the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program. Bring your lawn chair and work clothes. 

 



Luscious Lavender

Lavender lovers will gather on June 4 at The Gathering Place located at 2500 NE 78th St. for an informative presentation on lavender from Mary Jones, the owner of Scented Acres Lavender farm in Brush Prairie. This event is put on by the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program.

 

Education on fruit tree pruning and care

Have a fruit tree? Learn how to prune it to increase its productivity and beauty from 10 to 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 8 from the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program. Registration is $45 dollars and the location is provided upon registration. Register at bpt.me/4195125.

 

Guided tour of hops, rhododendrons and roses

Join other green thumbs in the area from 9 - 5 p.m. on June 11 for a summertime gardening tour put on by the WSU Extension Master Gardener Program. You will see the Oregon Hop House, Portland Nursery and the Van Veen Nursery. Registration is $35 and is required by June 3. You can register online at bpt.me/4243536.
