The General Federation of Women’s Clubs-Battle Ground (GFWC) recently named four scholarship winners from the Battle Ground area. Scholarships are made possible from the club’s primary fundraiser, the Ladybug Bazaar, held the first Saturday of November.

The winners of this year’s scholarships were:

• Lindsey Barton, Prairie High School, $500, tied for third place

• Heather Young, CAM Academy, $500, tied for third place

• Taylor Beardall, Battle Ground High School, $800, second place

• Taylor Nienaber, Prairie High School, $1,000, first place

Criteria for the scholarships included:

• Must be a girl who attends a Battle Ground School District high school.

• Scholarships must be used at an institution of higher learning in Washington state.

• Grade point average, financial need and community service contributions were also considered in the selection.

Winners and their mothers were congratulated at the March 13 meeting of the sponsoring organization. Each winner shared her education goals. The area club will submit Taylor Nienaber’s application to GFWC Washington State to vie for further scholarships.
