Kevin Haynes signs with CFL team

After four standout years on the football field at Central Washington University, Kevin Haynes has a new home in Montreal.

The Montreal Alouettes, of the Canadian Football League, signed the 2013 Battle Ground High School graduate to its practice squad on June 26. The Alouettes are three games into the 2018 season. They host the Ottawa Redblacks Friday.

Haynes earned Greater Northwest Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2016 and 2017. The 6-foot-1, 228-pound linebacker collected 110 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and four sacks for Central Washington in 2017. He also had 109 tackles, four sacks and two fumble recoveries for the Wildcats in 2016.



Haynes earned first-team Greater St. Helens League honors on both offense and defense during his senior year at Battle Ground High School. He had four interceptions, rushed for 1,285 yards and scored 17 touchdowns. He also played basketball and baseball for the Tigers.
