And the beat goes on for the Prairie boys basketball team.

A 19-5 finish in the fourth quarter propelled the Falcons to a 56-41 victory against Gig Harbor Wednesday in the first round of 3A district tournament at Prairie High School. The Falcons have won 11 games in a row. No team has been able to beat them yet in 2019.

“It’s amazing. Our whole team is into it together,” said Aidan Fraly, who scored eight of his team-leading 16 points in the fourth quarter Wednesday. He went 6-for-6 from the foul line down the homestretch to help Prairie pull away.

Gig Harbor hit a couple of big threes in the second quarter, before Prairie closed out on the first half on a 7-0 run to tie the score at 24-24. Kameron Osborn fed Bronson King under the basket for two points. King also rebounded a miss by the Falcons and put it back up for two points. Osborn then drained a three to even things up.

Prairie turned up the intensity on defense in the second half. A.J. Dixon prevented Kaden Garnaas from scoring any points for Gig Harbor in the fourth quarter after he made four threes in the first half.

Osborn finished with 15 points in the game, and Zeke Dixson and King each added eight. It was the final home game of the season for seniors Osborn, King and Thomas Hapgood.

“We could win 11 straight to start the year, but I’d rather end with 11 straight. Perfect time to pick up the pace and start winning,” Osborn said. “It’s weird thinking this was my last time playing in this gym. A lot of energy, a lot of years, blood, sweat and tears.”

Prairie (14-7) is ready to defend its streak in the quarterfinals against Timberline (16-5) at Timberline High School. The potential for snow postponed the game Friday, and it is now scheduled for 7 p.m., Feb. 13. Timberline has gotten the best of Prairie in previous years.

“We’ve lost some close ones on their home court. We know they’re a deep team, they’re very quick, they’re very athletic, they shoot the three really well, but we feel like we match up pretty well with them,” said head coach Kyle Brooks. “It’s 32 minutes. Anybody can win that game. We’re going to get ready and try to get a win on their court.”
