Equestrian teams compete in second meet of the season

North Clark County area high school equestrian teams recently competed in their second Washington State High School Equestrian Teams (WAHSET) meet of the 2015 season.

Here are the results of Meet 2 for North Clark County area teams.

District 3

District 3 includes teams from Battle Ground High School, Hockinson High School and Woodland High School (co-oping with Cedar Tree Classical Christian School). These schools participated in their second meet Feb. 19-22 at the Grays Harbor County Fairgrounds.

Hockinson

The Hockinson High School Equestrian Team placed in the top five in a few different team events, including third place in Canadian flags (Hope Miller, Cheyenne Scherf, Elle Tilkin and Anna Uusitalo); third place in freestyle six-plus (Bella Campzano, Cheyenne Coleman, Shaylee Coleman, Mackenzie Cour, Demi Ellithorpe, Madison Gray, McKenzie Lane, Scherf, Tilkin and Jennifer Wirth); second place in in-hand obstacle relay (Kayla Bryans, Ellithorpe, Rachel Mayes and Wirth); third place in in-hand obstacle relay (Campzano, Cheyenne Coleman, Shaylee Coleman, Miller and Scherf); second place in team sorting (Scherf and Tilkin); second place in working pairs (Ellithorpe and Wirth); and third place in working pairs (Shaylee Coleman and Mayes).

Individual riders, events and top-five placings are listed here: Campzano – fourth place in barrels; Cheyenne Coleman – fifth place in reining; Shaylee Coleman – second place in showmanship and third place in trail equitation; Ellithorpe – third place in in-hand trail and fourth place in trail equitation; Lane – fourth place in dressage and fourth place in hunt seat over fences; Mayes – third place in stock seat equitation, fifth place in hunt seat equitation and fifth place in in-hand trail; Miller – first place in reining and second place in barrels; Tilkin – fifth place in figure 8; Wirth – first place in working rancher, second place in trail equitation and third place in hunt seat equitation.

Battle Ground

The Battle Ground High School Equestrian Team placed in the top five in two different team events, including fourth place in team sorting (Mikayla Kytola and Hallie Wyles) and second place in two-man birangle (Kytola and Wyles).

Individual riders, events and top-five placings are listed here: Dixie Anderson – fourth place in saddle seat equitation; Kytola – first place in break-away roping and fifth place in keyhole; Meghan Molinari – fourth place in keyhole; Emily Wagner – third place in working rancher.

Woodland

The Woodland High School Equestrian Team placed in the top five in two different team events, including fourth place in freestyle six-plus (Serenity Gibbs, Alexandra Hollar, Tabitha Johnson, Jaiden Marshall, Lindsey Paul, McKenna Paul, Sarah Schmalenberger, Amanda Shaw and Zachery Williams) and first place in in-hand obstacle relay (Gibbs, Johnson, Lindsey Paul, McKenna Paul and Shaw).

Individual riders, events and top-five placings are listed here: Hollar – third place in saddle seat equitation; Johnson – first place in dressage, second place in saddle seat equitation and fourth place in in-hand trail; Lindsey Paul – third place in showmanship, fourth place in stock seat equitation and fifth place in dressage; McKenna Paul – fourth place in working rancher.



District 4

District 4 includes teams from Ridgefield High School and Prairie High School (co-oping with Kings Way and Mountain View). These teams competed in their second meet Feb. 19-22 at the Tacoma Unit.

Prairie

The Prairie High School Equestrian Team placed in the top five in several different teams events, including first place in two-man birangle (Casey Kampe and Kylie Vroman); fifth place in two-man birangle (Chloe Nevins and Paige Rinta); first place in working pairs (Vroman and Devon LoBato); fifth place in working pairs (Beca Thomas and Rinta); third place in in-hand obstacle relay ( Casey Kampe, Thomas, Rinta, Vroman and Alivia Stone); and first place in freestyle six-plus (Kampe, Nevins, Thomas, Rinta, Vroman, Taylor Adams, LoBato, Marie Dierks-Frank and Courtney Kampe).

Individual riders, events and top-five placings are listed here: Casey Kampe – first place in barrels, fifth place in figure 8, first place in break-away roping and first place in steer daubing; Alivia Stone – first place in showmanship, tied for third place in trail equitation, tied for second place in stock seat equitation, first place in hunt seat equitation and first place in dressage; Rinta – tied for third place in trail equitation, tied for second place in stock seat equitation and fifth place in pole bending; LoBato – fourth place in reining, tied for second place in hunt seat over fences and fourth place in steer daubing; Thomas – first place in hunt seat over fences; Vroman – fifth place in hunt seat over fences and second place in pole bending.

Ridgefield

The Ridgefield High School Equestrian Team placed fourth in freestyle fours (McKenzie Derheim, Jordyn Mae Wishard, Mikaela Shuman, Brittney Thornton and Olivia House).

District 2 – Meet One

District 2, which includes the La Center High School Equestrian Team (co-oping with Kingsway Christian), had its first meet Feb. 13-15 at the Clark County Fairgrounds.

The La Center High School Equestrian Team placed in the top five in several different team events, including fourth place in team sorting and fourth place in drill short program.
