The Prairie High School girls bowling team finished third and Madi Bash added a third-place finish in the individual standings at the Class 3A state bowling tournament held Feb. 5-6 at Narrows Plaza Bowl in University Place.

Bash totaled 1,170 pins during the first day of the two-day event to earn her third-place finish behind Olympic’s Ashlyn Jamrog and Everett’s Candice Goldfinch.

As a team, Prairie entered the second day of the competition in third place in the team standings and in the end, that’s exactly where the Falcons ended up. Hanford won the Class 3A team title, followed by second-place Everett.

In her six games Friday, Bash finished strong to move into third place. She rolled a 215 and then a 239 in her final two games to move up the standings.

Tia Fisher finished 24th overall in the individual standings for the Falcons followed by Bella Ogle (35th), Amber Sparks (44th), Caitlin Moore (56th) and Hannah Berrigan (59th).

In the team competition, seven Prairie bowlers participated. Tori Evenson joined the Falcons’ contingent for the team competition. None of the Prairie bowlers were seniors so all team members will have the opportunity to return next year in an attempt to finish even higher in the standings.

Prairie was coached by Jeanne Saxton.
