Prairie wins two of three in elite tourney

Prairie High School’s girls basketball team won two out of three games last week to finish second in the Gold bracket of the West Coast Jamboree in Antioch, CA.

Falcon standouts Cherita Daugherty and Emily Peters were selected to the All-Tournament team for their play during the tournament.

Prairie opened the tournament with a 64-43 win over Deer Valley, CA. Daugherty led the Falcons with 19 points and Peters and Lindsay Asplund each added 15 points in the victory.



Prairie then defeated Lincoln, of Stockton, CA, 55-50 in the semifinals of the Gold bracket. Peters led the way in that win, scoring 17 points. Daugherty chipped in 13 points and Jamie Phares added 10 for the Falcons.

In the championship game of their bracket, the Falcons lost to Brookside Christian, of Stockton, CA, 70-58. Daugherty led the way with 19 points in that game followed by Natalie Whitesel, who had 11 points. Grace Prom and Peters each had nine points for the Falcons.
