North County to host Green Angel Race

AMBOY – North Clark County will play host to the Green Angel Race on Sun., May 24. The event will include a half marathon and races of 10, 8, 6, and 3 miles as well as a division for walkers and a 1 mile fun race for children.

The event is a fundraiser for the Green Angel Foundation, an organization that raises money to purchase supplies for a foundation in the Dominican Republic for less fortunate children. The funds will help purchase basic necessities for the children such as food, clothes, toiletries and basic school supplies.

The Green Angel Race will start at Amboy Middle School, located at 22115 NE Chelatchie Rd., Amboy. The half marathon and 10-mile race will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the 6- and 8-mile race (8:10 a.m.), the 3-mile and walkers (8:15 a.m.) and the 1-mile fun race for children (10:30 a.m.). All participants will begin at the same location.

The registration fee is $10 for children 10-and-under, $20 for youth 11-17 and $30 for those 18-and-older.



Those registered will have the opportunity to race with two Olympians from the Dominican Republic. Scheduled to be on hand are Mariely Sanchez Hichez, a Dominican national record holder and 2012 London Olympiad participant, and Luguelin Miguel Santos Aquino, a Dominican national record holder and 2012 London Olympiad silver medalist.

Battle Ground Foursquare Church Pastor Dan Russell, a USA Wrestling national coach and NCAA wrestling national champion, will also be on hand to welcome the Dominican Republic Olympians.
