Despite running with a torn abdominal muscle, Ridgefield High School senior Kyle Radosevich held the lead in the Class 2A cross country state championship race until the final 400 meters Saturday at the Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco.

Eliason Kabasenche of Pullman finished in first place with a time of 15 minutes, 44 seconds. Radosevich followed three seconds behind in second place.

“It was a very gutsy performance and an amazing race,” said head coach Angela Shields.

The La Center girls cross country team earned third place in the 1A state championship race and the Ridgefield boys finished in fifth place in the 2A state championship race.
